Empowering you on your financial journey

Voyage Federal Credit Union has a legacy of personal service, small business relations, and community support. What began as two separate credit unions, Bell Federal Credit Union and Midwest Partners – with histories dating back to World War II – blossomed into a mutually respectful merger in 2011. This merger encouraged growth and opportunities for both credit unions and their members. Our founding members understood that every person and every business has a unique relationship with finances.

Voyage Federal Credit Union has infused this same philosophy into every aspect through continued growth and multiple mergers.

Over the years, Voyage has grown its footprint on the financial market to more than $200 million in assets. Our staff at Voyage works hard to remain present for over 20,000 members who trust us with their money. We are a credit union founded and run on small-town-type principles of solid work ethic, relationship building, and community involvement.

In 2021, Voyage merged with Good Samaritan Federal Credit Union. Good Samaritan FCU was looking for a better way to serve their younger members. This void was fulfilled by Voyage’s tech-focused growth through our online banking and expanded services while remaining a member-focused credit union.

With small-town-type principles, Voyage merged with Vermillion Federal Credit Union in 2023. In the months leading up to this pivotal moment, our team worked with Vermillion Federal Credit Union on the future of the credit union. The conversations led to a unanimous decision to unite the two communities, a partnership solidified by the values that brought us to this stage.

With this merger, came a charter expansion. Voyage is now able to serve members in 25 counties across 4 states. Find out if we are able to serve you.

In 2024, Voyage continued its legacy of supporting members through expansion and was part of another credit union merger, this time with First Century Federal Credit Union. This merger enhances Voyage's commitment to personal service, small business support, and community involvement.

At Voyage, we're more than a credit union; we're a community. Every decision we make is aimed at empowering and enriching our members' lives by educating them. Voyage works wholeheartedly to meet the needs of our members.

We're excited to continue this journey together, exploring new opportunities for growth and success. Here at Voyage, we’re not just watching futures grow—we’re actively building them with you.

Here’s a timeline of our history

1939

The people of Northwestern Bell Telephone Company come together to charter a new credit union, and call it Sioux Falls Bell Federal Credit Union.

1940

Elsewhere, Midwest Partners Federal Credit Union gets chartered by the people of Metz Baking Company.

1987

Metz/Mckennan Federal Credit Union is formed through the merge of Midwest Partners and Mckennan Hospital Employee Federal Credit Unions.

2001

Metz/Mckennan changes its name back to Midwest Partners Federal Credit Union due to expanding membership and to better reflect key sponsors.

2009

Sioux Falls Bell shortens its name and broadens membership opportunities to Minnehaha and Lincoln counties as Bell Federal Credit Union.

Voyage Dawley Farm Branch

2011

This one is kind of a big deal. It’s where all three histories start a new one altogether. Midwest Partners and Bell combine in a new partnership. This came through approval by the National Credit Union Administration and a membership vote by the people of Midwest Partners Federal Credit Union. The past names were out, and let’s be honest, they were quite a mouthful. In reflection of where we came from and where we will go with our members, we became Voyage Federal Credit Union.

It’s a refreshingly uncomplicated name for the simple, straightforward banking service we offer to our members in their unique journeys through life.
