Branding for Small Businesses with Maddie Peschong

Maddie Peschong presents branding for small businesses

Join us on this episode of Tips for Change as we dive into the journey of Maddie Peschong, a brand photographer and coach from Sioux Falls. Maddie shares her experiences in photography, her shift to brand photography, and her work coaching other photographers.

Key Financial Tips From Maddie

  1. Understand that business finances are different from personal finances.

  2. Use debt wisely to grow your business and see a good return on investment.

  3. Check your finances regularly to stay on track and make informed decisions.

Maddie's Path to Photography

Maddie first started taking photos over 12 years ago. She began with weddings and family sessions but switched to brand photography about five years ago. This change allowed her to work closely with small businesses and have a better work-life balance.

Maddie originally didn't plan to own a business, let alone multiple. Inspired by her parents and her love for writing, she wanted to work in a corporate office. However, her photography side job grew, and she decided to make it her full-time career, leaving behind her corporate job.

Establishing a Brand Identity

Maddie realized that her personal brand made her stand out in a crowded market. Using her skills and personality, she focused on creating a unique identity that her clients loved. From there, Maddie started coaching other photographers who wanted to switch to brand photography. Her approach was to treat business like an experiment and be open to change.

Financial Planning and Business Growth

Maddie discusses the importance of managing money while operating a business. She shares her routine of reviewing her finances every week and the value of knowing where her money goes. Hiring a business coach was a decision that ultimately helped her business grow significantly.

Overcoming Challenges

Maddie shares a tough time when several large-scale projects fell through, leaving her without income. This taught her to be resilient and act, even when things are hard. It showed her that business has ups and downs and you need to keep going.

Excited about the future, Maddie continues to grow her coaching program and expand her photography studio, White Space Studio. She wants to continue encouraging entrepreneurs to build businesses by being themselves and using their strengths.
